The Rise Of Fast Food Culture in INDIA

INDIA, a home to over 1.4 billion people is packed with fast food, that has a huge cultural effect on the food that we eat on roadside or in restaurants. It has become very easy in saving time to eat frequently the food that is available in restaurants or on the roadside street stalls, because a majority of the population spends 9 to 12 hrs of their day in workforces or offices trying to make a living. That is basically why it is convenient for people to either order it from Swiggy or Zomato, or just stand and eat on the stalls because it is cheap, easily accessible and saves time….

So far it is seen that the people who often work, and the other population of the country are kind of addicted to eating out of the house frequently. In the name of tiredness and “AAJ MANN NAHI KAR RAHA YE SABJI KHANEKA” we often see people leave homemade food and go have something outside. This saves time and workload but AT WHAT COST?

Just for the sake of having that taste for merely an hour, but the unhealthy effect it has on us, what about that?

I am well aware that it tastes delicious, but it has prominent negative effect on our bodies.

1. LOW HYGEINE – Theres barely any hygiene we can see on the street stalls or even in restaurants that feed us mostly have very low cleanliness.

2. USE OF CONTAMINATED WATER -Most of the food prepared out of the house, anywhere, uses contaminated water to prepare. Which obviously results in diseases like cholera, indigestion, upset stomach and even diarrhea.

3. REUSED COOKING OIL – Do one thing, just go to a street vendor and just look how he deep fries the FRITTERS that we eat on a daily basis. And I guarantee you’ll leave eating it forever. Because what happens is almost each and every time they use leftover oil and even if that is less, they add the new oil to the leftover oil and fry the fritters in it. Which enhances the saturation of the food making it not fit for the body to have on a daily basis.

4. ARTIFICIAL COLORING – Dishes like Pav Bhaji, Manchurian, Noodles, Palak paneer etc… use artificial coloring in them so that they look more redder or greener. The artificial colors in it amplifies the risk of having deadly diseases like Cancer.

5. TOO MUCH OF SALT OR SUGAR – There is no radar to weigh of how much salt or sugar should go inside the food made from outside. Because at the end of the day they need preserve it for later or give the best taste and while doing this they lose all track of the quantity that is to be used.

Nobody in today’s generation can live without fast food. We have enhanced it so much that every alternate day we are in need of consuming fast food. I don’t say this has to be completely gotten rid of. But there has to be rule of 80-20 we all must follow. 80% the food should be cooked and consumed from the home, and 20% occasionally it is fine to have food from outside because to keep our soul happy. It is obvious for us that at a party we will have the time of our lives and eat what they’re offering us, but we can surely control ourselves when it is the time for us to wait for to have ONE CHEAT MEAL. For yes, it is truly said we do need to have balance in our lives. Any extend we go; we must suffer then. Because everything comes at a price, so that’s why we must never take anything for granted.
